Along the coastline of the sparkling blue waters of the
Indian Ocean lies the historic town of Pangani. Coral
reefs and white sand beaches are some of the natural
treasures which await discovery but equally. Once a
centre of Swahili trade with the African mainland, the
town of Pangani is now a sleepy backwater that little
remembers its days of splendour. The old German
administrative boma still stands behind a colonade of
tall shade trees and the former prison, painted a fading
ochre red, looks over the river’s lazy waters.

Mafia Island is approximately 30 miles off the Tanzanian
coast, about 45 minutes by air from Dar es Salaam and
one hour from the Selous Game Reserve and Zanzibar
Island. Today Mafia is known as a beautiful Indian Ocean
tropical resort that is famous for deep sea fishing and
scuba diving. Aquatic life is abundant and the coral
gardens are pristine due to the protection of the Mafia
Island Marine Park. At 394km² it is the largest of a
small archipelago of islands, and is as close as you can
get to the quintessential ideal of an Indian Ocean
tropical paradise.
The Island is unique and perfect destination as part of
a safari package or simply a place to unwind and get
away from the daily, modern and busy world.

The
town of Bagamoyo was one of the most important trading
ports on the East African coast and the penultimate stop
of slave and ivory caravans travelling on foot from Lake
Tanganyika on their way to Zanzibar. Bagamoyo is a small
Tanzanian coastal town bordering the Indian Ocean to the
west and Dar es salaam to the south .Bagamoyo's history
has been influenced by Arab and Indian traders, the
German colonial government and Christian missionaries.
Bagamoyo was recently designated as Tanzania's seventh
world
heritage site and is the oldest town in Tanzania.
Today Bagamoyo is a sleepy town. Many visitors come
here to explore the ancient historical sites that serve
as a testimony to Bagamoyo’s glorious past. Click here

Dar es Salaam, formerly
Mzizima, is the largest city, economic centre and former
capital of Tanzania. It is located on a bay of the
Indian Ocean. The city itself is an eclectic mix of
Swahili, German, Asian and British architecture,
reflecting its colonial past and more recent history.
With picturesque harbour, exotic beaches, a vibrant
nightlife and interesting historical buildings, Dar es
salaam is one of the most pleasant cities in Africa. The
best thing about Dar, is that it is the genuine African
atmosphere, which is quite different from for instance
Cape Town and other big cities in South Africa. A lot of
small and big hotels have been built in the city centre,
on the beach areas and, in the more posh suburbs, some
seemingly luxurious hotels had grown up, a sign of the
positive tourism development in Tanzania. Click here for
